Frontend Engineer with a UX Flare @ Startup Labs

About Startup Labs

We are a product development (labs) startup based out of Jaipur, Rajasthan. We develop products for our clients (startups) as well as for our own ideas. We have been working with several startups across the globe and have developed several products over the last five years.

Some of the products that we have built: Feedback Loop, Munchie, WaySpa, Boffter

This is a core team member position with high visibility and responsibility with avenues of non-linear high career growth potential.

What you will be doing (roles and responsibilities)

1. Research, understand the business domain the product deals with and develop empathy with the end users of the product (will involve interacting with them).

2. Architect the user experience - abstract, blue prints, flows, behavior - photoshop, flow diagrams, illustrator, your own tools.

3. Design a responsive user interface. - HTML(5)/CSS(3).

4. Develop (code) the behavior - Javascript. Backend dependent or backend agnostic, as required.

5. The end product should be a super responsive world class frontend.

6. Perform split testing, A/B testing, multivariate testing, etc. to understand what works.

7. Iterate quickly and test again.

Required Skills and Qualities

1. Startup mindset.

2. HTML (5) with knowledge of APIs and CSS (3).

3. Twitter bootstrap.

4. Plain old Javascript, JQuery library, some other modern Javascript library.

5. Understanding of HTTP and frontend web security measures.

6. Responsive design.

7. Split testing, A/B testing, multivariate testing.

8. Analytics (Google, Flurry).

9. You test your code, rigorously.

10. You are a honest, humble person with high integrity.

Desired Skills and Qualities

1. Knowledge of or at least a willingness to learn basics of Django templating.

2. Previous experience with json APIs.

3. Visual Website Optimizer.

4. Google and Flurry Analytics.

5. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

6. Big+ if you are ready for a pre-job seven day paid work with us. We get to know each other well.

7. A degree in Engineering

8. Whether or not you sleep at night is directly proportional to whether you’ve made something thrilled or pissed off that day.

Experience (no. of years in the industry)

Well, it does not matter to us per se. We know a lot of people who just grey their hair in the Sun and call it X years of experience! We believe that number of years is not a necessary measure of knowledge and expertise level. If you have the above mentioned required skills, qualities, you like the roles and responsibilities and you like what we do, if you feel that there is a rockstar in you, bring it on!

Salary

• A pretty wide range: INR 7.5LPA to INR 15LPA depends on your passion, knowledge, expertise, etc.
