Javascript Developer

What we need…

VideoKen is looking for a strong JavaScript Developer, who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include implementing visual elements and their behaviors with user interactions. You will work with both front-end and back-end web developers to build all client-side logic. You will also be bridging the gap between the visual elements and the server-side infrastructure, taking an active role on both sides, and defining how the application looks and functions.  Here's what we are expecting you to do:

• 4-6 years of experience in Front-end programming
• Develop new software applications from concept to finish, with regular tests and maintenance.
• Write good code.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Guarantee the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end services
• Evaluate and implement advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks as needed.
• Understand asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Who we think will be a great fit…

A passionate individual with excellent programming, debugging and analytical skills, someone who pays close attention to details, enjoys working with modern programming software, and can take on complex tasks with little direction.  You also meet most (if not more) of the following requirements:

• Strong understanding of JavaScript, its quirks, and workarounds
• Understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
• Good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as AngularJS
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
• Knowledge about browser quirks and can develop/optimize across different browsers
• Familiarity with JavaScript module loaders, such as Require.js and AMD
• Familiarity with front-end build tools, such as Grunt and Gulp.js
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Good understanding of browser rendering behavior and performance
• Experience and Knowledge with Agile methodology will be an advantage
• Good knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Passionate about learning new technologies and adapting to complex and fast moving environments

You should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  A team player, who can also work independently, escalating issues when appropriate.  Our team is a fluid team that works well together and can take constructive criticism in the spirit of improving software quality.

VideoKen is an AI-based platform that makes any informational videos much more rich and consumable.  It uses AI techniques to automatically index videos, creating table-of-contents (ToC) and phrase cloud, which nicely summarizes key topics in a video. VideoKen’s powerful embedded video player provides unique navigational capabilities to traverse within a video to identify points of interest.

 VideoKen a seed funded startup with $1 million. A team of 20 young (may not be with age, but energy :)) entrepreneurs.  Yes, you heard it right, everyone here is an integral part of the company and plays an important role in its success.  We are headquartered in US, operating from Bangalore.  Within the span of little over than a year, we have been able to generate high number of leads and convert them into paid engagements.  These engagements include both large multi-nationals and SMB customers.
