Backend Engineer at Tookitaki

Tookitaki is a well funded marketing analytics startup focused on audience discovery and prediction. We are building a SaaS platform for marketing and advertising agencies, that will provide insights on audience behavior, without using privacy tracking or cookies. We have a few big names in our client roster and we are growing very fast. Really fast. 

We are looking for a strong generalist programmer to join our backend team. Responsibilities will include:

1. Independently design and develop product features.

2. Write clean, simple and concise code.

3. Be interested or fluent in functional programming principles. 

4. Have a very solid working understanding of basic data structures and algorithms. We don't use red black trees and the like - but you should be very good at using Maps, Lists and their derivatives. 

5. Be fluent in map-reduce functions and be able to write or implement map-reduce code from scratch. 

6. Be fluent with AWS - You should be able to do basic AWS tasks, spinning new machines, setting up security groups, managing VPCs. You should be able to manage your infrastructure and use the required tools for the same. 

Hiring process - We'll not test you on puzzles or brain teasers. We are more interested in what you can do than what you have done. Our first round will be a basic test around the foundations of data structures and algorithms. Should you pass that, we'll give an assignment that you can code at your convenience. Post that, we'll call for an interview at our office where we'll provide you more coding assignments and understand how well you fit in our team. We'll let you know of our hiring decision that very same day.

We offer a good pay package that is on par with other product companies in Bangalore. We are located in Kormangala, close to many startup related activities. We are flexible in working hours but most of us spend time in the office. We can make exceptions for remote work but we can't afford to have you work remotely for most of the time. We'll also make sure that your work doesn't get hindered by technical constraints ( workstations, monitors or whatever it is that you like to make you more productive). We have a spacious office with open seating.
