Start Up! is an incubator, impact accelerator and leadership springboard for social entrepreneurs. We seed and scale social ventures that create lasting impact in under-served communities.

WHAT WE DO

We work with social ventures (across the profit- non-profit continuum) that are at different stages in their lifecycle- seed, growth and maturity. We build enduring change models with focus on innovation, impact and sustainability.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial , self-starter with demonstrated leadership in the social entrepreneurship and/or development sector and a keenness to grow Start Up’s unique business model. You will be part of an “Everybody An Intrapraneur” team that builds vibrant social ventures and an active ecosystem for social entrepreneurship across India.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Incubation/Impact Acceleration/ Leadership Development

You will deliver 4-6 projects annually (of 3 months to 9 months duration) towards seeding, strengthening and sustaining social ventures, based on Start Up’s 8 Step Methodology.

This will require you to:

Incubate and accelerate the growth and impact of social ventures:

  • Design and develop envisioning exercises, go-to-market strategies, strategy roadmaps and business plans, financial models, organizational structures, operational plans, impact measurement indicators and other operational solutions for social entrepreneurs, based on Start Up’s methodologies, processes, templates and tools.
  • Manage a robust funder network; connect them to our partners and clients.

Drive our leadership springboard offer:

  • Co-ordinate and organize 2-3 leadership training workshops and mentoring processes for teams of social ventures across India.

Ensure timely and high quality delivery of solutions:

  • Ensure excellent project management, utilization of time and resources, and effective and timely communication with all stakeholders.
  • Design and implement a system for regular feedback from clients and partners.

2. Business Growth – Geographic and Thematic

As part of a fast-growing entrepreneurial team, you will also work closely with the CEO and CGO (Chief Growth Officer) to open up new avenues for Start Up’s operations.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge/Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of social entrepreneurship in India and globally.
  • Strong grasp over strategic planning processes and models for social impact; Ability to develop business plans
  • Excellent sector analysis, report writing and editing skills.
  • Competence in designing and presenting professional knowledge documents and reports
  • Ability to deliver projects and program in a structured and process-focussed manner, within a fastpaced work environment
  • Strong communication (written and oral) and storytelling skills
  • Knowledge of, and enthusiasm for business development

Leadership Skills

  • Initiative- taking, resilience, high problem-solving abilities, attention to detail.
  • Abilities to forge enduring relationships of trust with partners/clients and teams
  • Ability to envision and grow ideas and programs from scratch
  • Enthusiasm for working with grassroots communities and/or with social entrepreneurs in their fields of operation.
  • Enthusiasm for travel, especially to rural locations.

MINIMUMWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Post-graduation, with specialization in social entrepreneurship or design and communication or economics or business studies preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience - either as a lead team member in a social enterprise, or in an eco-system building/support organization for social entrepreneurs, or in a consulting venture.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi; knowledge of additional Indian languages will be a plus.
  • Excellent skills in MS office/equivalent applications, especially MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
