Software Engineers for Search Technologies in E-commerce/ SaaS

Skoov Technologies is a technology-centric enterprise focussed on improving visibility, performance and sales for the small to medium online businesses.
 
Skoov has built a strong search based discovery platform for small to medium online businesses, and we have a monthly traffic of 200,000 users with a 30% retention rate. We currently have close to 50 signups from online merchants, and we are looking to reach 300 by the end of the year.

We are in the pre-beta launch phase for our SaaS offering which will help improve performance, search quality, and therefore conversions for the small online businesses. It is our goal to provide market intelligence and improve engineering efficiencies for our partners, so they can remain focussed on product, design and brand, and not worry about technology

We are looking for Engineers who are keen on working on (and learning for) product centric platforms and services, with specific interest in NLP based Search technologies, Machine Learned Algorithms and Classification Systems. 

Profile

• Understand, design, develop and maintain core Skoov Search Application in Python
• Design, deploy, manage and administer Skoov Search Backend (SOLR)
• Develop search plugins for the Skoov Search Backend
• Modify or customize Search Schema and Configuration as per engineering requirements
• Work closely with the Backend engineering team to understand requirements, plan for changes, capacity and performance.
• Team management will be part of this role. Good communication and management skills are also needed

Skills

• Python/Java Programmer with a search engineering background on ElasticSearch/SOLR (preferred)
• Knowledge of Search/NLP algorithms/heuristics – stemming/Levenshtein/clustering/tokenization etc.
• Knowledge of MongoDB is a plus
• Python programming is a plus
• Strong background on Linux
• Experience on performance engineering – Horizontal Scaling/Sharding/Index Optimisation etc.
