MySql Database Administrator on Linux
Senior MySQL DBA on Linux will be a part of the Core Engineering team at NearGroup that lives to make NearGroup’s services fast and reliable. An ideal candidate for this role is passionate about resolving complex issues in deployment and capacity management. He/she will play a pivotal role in building and managing our core high-volume systems, infrastructure and participate in key design decisions.
Desired Skills & Experience
Working knowledge and support of MySQL database
Expert level understanding of RDBM concepts and data normalization
Experience in MySQL Clustering and NDB Cluster.
Should have hands on experience with MySQL replication and creating Master-Master/Master-Mirror.
Experience managing sizeable databases in a large 24x7 environment
Experience tuning MySQL queries, to include sub-selects, views, triggers, rules, and stored procedures
Proficient with command line management of Linux systems and writing shell scripts in Bash or Perl
Proficient with Linux command line filter tools such as awk, sed, grep
Familiarity with Ubuntu, Amazon AWS, particularly EC2, RDS etc
Understanding of DNS basics
Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
Basic knowledge of routers/switches/firewalls
Ability to mine performance and capacity data from various data sources and formulate valuable analysis
Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands
Responsibilities
Setup Linux servers from the ground up, then maintaining and troubleshooting on Amazon EC2
Ensuring maximum availability and security of servers, including hardware/software upgrades and disaster recovery processes
Thinking of cool new ways of automating tasks with greater efficiency to save us time and hassle
Setup replication, monitoring, firewall
Nice to have:
Experience with TalenD
Experience with Percona tools, patches and custom builds
Experience with Tungsten Continuent
Experience managing servers that handle many concurrent connections
Familiarity with Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
Education & Qualification
Any Graduate with at least 2 years of relevant experience
