Agent-based Modelling (ABM) Consultant required for World Bank Project

Kabadiwalla Connect, an award winning waste management company, is seeking to hire an Agent-Based Modelling (ABM) consultant to work with us on part-time basis.

The role offers rich exposure and knowledge of the informal waste ecosystem in the developing world. The opportunity will ensure continuous improvement of the candidate’s abilities through active collaborations with Kabadiwalla Connect’s leadership team, which includes advisors from India, Europe and the United States.

The broad outline of responsibilities are as follows:

  1. Develop a deep understanding of the informal waste management ecosystem in India.
  2. Perform quality control and analysis on large data sets.
  3. Conceptualize and design an agent-based model, based on available data.
  4. Develop simulations for the waste management ecosystem in Chennai, India.
  5. Publish model online and ensure smooth delivery to target audiences.

Skills for an ABM consultant:

  1. Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  2. Ability to quickly understand and develop expertise of complex systems.  
  3. Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills which can be applied to real-world problem.
  4. Ability to translate real-world systems into structured models and programs.
  5. Advanced programming skills in NetLogo or equivalent ABM tools.  

Required Languages: English

Salary: ₹500/hour or ₹40,000 for entire 2 month project timeline. Negotiable if skills in agent-based model development and significant prior modelling experience is available.
