Project Tech Associate

IT for Change , Bengaluru · · Full-time employment · Programming

IT for Change is looking to recruit a Project Tech Associate forĀ  an ambitious project that will work with high school girls in Bengaluru. The project seeks to deploy digital technologies for intensive, hands-on activities with groups of girls and school-wide workshops and teacher trainings, in government and aided schools. Over 3 years, we hope to make a dent in the way multiple cohorts of girl students experience their sense of self and exercise their agency, questioning disempowering ideologies and practices. We also wish to bring about systemic change in the school context so that the educational environment is able to recognise and address the routine cultures that prevent girls from actualising their potential. The idea is to build a STEM project for girls, with a difference - focusing on digital artefacts, tech labs and gender labs, to catalyse a feminist consciousness in curricular and co-curricular pursuits.

Who we are looking for: The Project Tech Associate will be an early career professional, fluent in English and Kannada (at least, spoken). She will have a keen interest in feminist approaches to digital technology and in the empowerment of girls. She will have expertise in coding and demonstrated experience in team work. Experience in creating educational products will be an advantage. The candidate should also be able to customise and run/ maintain the back end of virtual platforms and explore the necessary digital tools for building apps to suit the project. Interest in conducting training sessions for girls and teachers is important.

The position will entail local travel to different schools in Bengaluru South. Female candidates will be preferred for the position.
