The communities are primarily drawn from India’s technology and product ecosystems. Individuals participate in these communities to share their work, give and receive feedback, and to produce knowledge and documentation.
Corporates, startups, VCs and tech influencers tap into these communities for:
- Employer branding
- Hiring
- Developer evangelism
- Lead generation for startup ideas and founders
- Goodwill
As Business Development executive, you will be responsible for:
- Lead generation - background research and persona mapping.
- Account mapping, and continuous engagement with clients
- Setting up and managing Hasgeek's CRM
- Making proposals, presentations and reports for sponsors.
You will be responsible for executing day-to-day tasks related to Sales, CRM, and client communication. This involves handling the sales process, managing leads, responding to clients with presentations, and maintaining the CRM system - but without the managerial responsibilities.
Breaking down your role - what a typical day will look like:
- Start with looking at your week’s to-do and prioritize sales outreach, where sales needs closing, inventory of items to sell and leads for the week.
- Make a couple of inroads with organizations or people you don’t directly know. Since these might or might not fructify, you want to get to a cadence on these to let volume work its magic and you like to get this done early in the day, while you are brimming with energy.
- Prepare/edit/close sales proposals, as tasked to you.
- Reach out to potential folks in the community who can make further connections for you.
- Take meetings as required.
- Have a quick catch-up conversation with your lead in the afternoon, just to get an opportunity to run them through your successes and areas you anticipate being stuck at. That way, they can unblock you before it becomes a serious block.
- You spend some time in the late afternoon updating the CRM and doing an overview of the contacts in the CRM and preparing a pipeline of leads to reach out in the week and the month.
- You update your ongoing leads and discussions into the CRM.
- On a flush of success, you close the day.
Your deliverables will be:
- In the first 30 days, gain a strong understanding of Hasgek’s business, offerings and legacy.
- Get an overview of the leads and businesses in the CRM; take charge of updating the CRM.
- Consistently meet/exceed monthly sales numbers and open new leads.
- Exceed the targets on your communication strategy with potential clients by way of phone calls, emails, event invites, meet and greets etc.
- Own the sales cycle: identifying where new customers should come from, preparing and sharing proposals, and closing conversations successfully by adding more leads.
- Be seen as a valued expert and advisor to existing and potential clients.
- Work with production, operations and marketing to complete deliverables for existing sponsors.
Growth opportunities and direction
- You will be among the first sales hires in the organization. Therefore, the opportunities for you are boundless, to learn how to set up a sales org, how to navigate uncertainty and change, and emerge as a strong leader.
- You will have the chance to learn the details of the inner workings of a growing organization at the cusp of growth and will be able to translate these into applicable learnings at all aspects of your work life.
What you need to bring to the table
- Steady energy and sociability
- Self-starting ability
- Working independently
- Being target minded
- Strong knowledge of sales strategies and techniques
- Being excited by tough goals and targets
- Being resilient and relentless in pursuit of goals
- Business development
- Lead generation
- Strong communication skills on emails, phones, in person
- Powerful interpersonal skills
- Experience with CRM software and sales management tools
- Ability to create and deliver effective pitch decks
- Excellent at organizing work, and time management
- Customer service-oriented mindset
