First WalkIn is an infant retail tech firm working on bringing an online experience to the offline world. Our stack encompasses 6 key facets: Identity, Loyalty, Ordering and Payment, Engagement, Feedback and Reporting.

Key clients include Cafe Coffee Day and McDonald’s. We have an unconventional pedigree (since our company is a consequence of experiments with technology and analytics in the governmental and political domain) which lends a disproportionate ambition to everything we attempt, including the attributes we look for in a technology leader

Given the nature of play (B2B2C), our existence is a dramatic function of living for our clients but dying for our users. Partners we are looking for should be able to empathize with this belief. The scale and complexity of our clients’ businesses and the nature of our purpose to upend a traditional industry translate into a need for a hacker mindset in that all technologists working with us need to straddle the full stack while nursing and feeding a perpetual curiosity about all things code.

For us, the extent of experience is less important than the nature of it. Since we usually hire — at all levels — for temperament; the ability to patiently mentor colleagues is essential. Adherence to the highest ethical standards and a penchant for ownership are non-negotiable. Being a spartan is a plus since that’s a decision that circumstances usually make for us. While a background and interest in e-commerce/retail would be helpful, lack of it is not a showstopper.

About You: 

We're looking for a Tech Lead to help us build solutions for the organized offline retail industry in India by providing technical leadership to architect and implement our various technology platforms from scratch, apply first principles thinking to solve problems, envision and create the future you want to live in

As a Tech Lead, you'll be: 

• Be involved in all aspects of the product life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, overall design, implementation, QA and Maintenance
• Create technical architecture and solutions in terms of components, modules and algorithms
• Lead a small team of developers, coach, mentor, and delegate to engineers to facilitate their development
• Get your hands dirty with clustering, replication, databases, build systems and infrastructure automation etc.
• Build elegant UI interfaces to provide the best user experience
• Have a penchant for learning and building with new technologies and frameworks.
• Build and contribute to open-source libraries and components
• Design and develop scalable and reusable frameworks and applications using Java Stack
• Producing functional specifications and design documents
• Knack for writing the most performance optimized code along with it being modular and scalable. No challenge is too big to solve; love thinking product and excited to ideate & build on ideas all by yourself
• Develop, deploy and maintain the consumer-facing and backend features of the solutions
• Support and maintain developed code through system test and customer deployments
• Establish work for software engineers by breaking up tasks into objectives

Qualifications: 

• B.E. or equivalent in CS or related field
• 6+ years of experience in building End-to-End applications and solutions
• Full stack web/mobile application development with a variety of languages including but not limited to PHP, JavaScript, HTML, etc.
• Demonstrated experience delivering highly scalable big data products
• Continual re-evaluation of existing stack and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance, availability and security.
• Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
• Strong CS fundamentals, good working knowledge of classic algorithms and data structures
• Experience developing server-side technologies using core Java or other languages. Experience working with Spring, Relational Databases, Concurrent Programming, AWS
• Experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant systems and databases.
• Solid understanding of how the web works and its underlying communication protocols
• Deeply technical with a track record of successful delivery as an individual contributor
• Great problem-solving skills
• Excellent team skills
