Fullstack Developer - PHP, MySQL, AngularJS, Redis, Mobile App Experience

About Us

100pins is a web/mobile group communications app with continuously increasing usage - both number of users and activity per user. We have about half a million users and half a million monthly messages currently, and the numbers are increasing at the rate of 25-50% per month.

All of this means that we need code that executes really fast, and a hosting set-up that doesn't result in bloating bills. Which means we need even more really good engineers.

You will be working on both architecting the application (including both enhancing the database design to add new features and to enhance speed, and improving the architecture of the code base) and on hands-on coding.

In addition, you will be responsible for the hosting set-up on AWS, the speed and uptime of the application, the backups and the security.

Very few people have such all-round skills, and the job will help you evolve into a very coveted engineer.

About You

We are looking for full-stack engineers with expertise in PHP, MySQL and Javascript (NodeJS, AngularJS, jQuery). Experience in the Ionic framework, responsive website development, redis, AWS and Linux will be a plus, though not compulsory. 

We need core/direct PHP programming skills - and not merely on frameworks like Laraval/CodeIgniter/Yii or on CMSs like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla). So you'll need to be good with arrays, object-oriented programming, PHP string/math/array/mysql functions etc. 

In addition, we'd prefer people with hands-on experience on running heavy load applications on MySQL with huge and continuously increasing data. People with experience in database partitioning, load testing and AWS / other cloud infrastructure will be preferred. 

Specifically, we are looking for someone with a good academic record and good: 

1. MySQL skills (with indexing / performance-tuning / partitioning experience - making queries run in much lesser times is a typical challenge), 

2. Core PHP programming skills, with exposure to MVC and a sound understanding of OO concepts, 

3. Javascript skills (jQuery, NodeJS, AngularJS and AJAX) with DOM manipulation experience 

4. Modern HTML/CSS programming knowledge 

5. Linux skills 

Good to have but not compulsory skills: 

1. Experience with AWS and email servers 

2. JMeter / load testing experience 

3. Performance monitoring experience 

4. Mobile app development experience on Ionic, with specific expertise in push notifications 

5. Redis 

An experience of 2-5 years would be good, more would be welcome. But really, your experience or education do not matter too much as long as you meet the specs above. We would love a cover letter written specifically with reference to our job posting and our requirements.

The indicative monetary salary for this position (excluding stock) is Rs. 4-7 lakhs per annum. The actual pay will depend on your skills and performance in our coding and aptitude tests. You could also work part-time / as a freelancer / as a consultant / on a one-time assignment if you have the relevant experience, instead of in a full-time role.
