Lead Software Architect (Python)

Exceleron Software (www.exceleron.com) is North America’s leading provider of prepaid and payment utility solutions. We are looking to hire a full-time Lead Software Architect to assist our growing team with software architecture and engineering for our Software as a Service platform MyUsage.com and our credit card gateway MyUsagePayments.com.

In addition to acting as the team’s lead Python developer, the Lead Software Architect will advise the development team on framework selection, establishing best practices and testing standards, and other considerations required to successfully integrate Python as a primary programming language in Exceleron’s existing technology stack. Flexibility, a strong teamwork approach, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment are necessary for success.

Duties:

  • Design, develop, and release Python solutions to address business needs
  • Provide architectural blueprints and technical leadership to our development team
  • Evaluate and recommend frameworks, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality product platform
  • Senior-level code review of the team’s Python code
  • Mentor and cross-train engineers in Python development and best practices

 Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Python web frameworks (Flask, Django, or others)
  • Linux/CentOS environment and/or system experience
  • Proficiency with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Capable of working in a full stack development environment – experienced with HTML 5, CSS, Javascript and derivatives
  • Outstanding individual initiative; extremely driven and able to successfully set priorities, drive decisions and get closure on recommendations and issues
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and systems such as Scrum, Kanban
  • Ability to communicate and document designs and concepts to other team members effectively
  • Solid understanding of best security practices in the development life cycle

 Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS and/or other cloud environments
  • Experience in other programming languages (Perl, Go, etc.)
