Call for Applications - Website Developer

Centre for Internet and Society , Anywhere · cis-india.org · Short-term contract · Programming

Researchers at the Centre for Internet and Society are working on two research grants from the Internet Society Foundation and the International Labour Organization. Through the work on these grants, CIS is comprehensively evaluating labour practices in dominant and emergent sectors in the platform economy in India. In doing so, we have combined field-based qualitative and quantitative methods, and desk-based legal-regulatory research.

The knowledge generation comprises three work packages, which include: (a) creating quantitative datasets on the sector-specific management of platform labour(ers) in India; (b) analysis of digital platforms’ organisational structures and regulatory positions; and (c) strategy-building exercises and distillation of findings into implementable forms.

Through these work packages, we want to understand and address the particular opportunities and challenges in accessing and conducting work on digital platforms faced by workers belonging to marginalised communities.

The selected developer will work with our labour research team, graphic designer, and data visualisation consultant to build a website that will be the one-stop shop for all past, ongoing and future labour research. This microsite will be the starting point for your work, and the website you develop will adopt a similar visual language: https://platformwork.in/

We expect the work to be completed over a maximum of three months. We seek applicants who are available to start immediately.

The minimum consolidated fee for this role is INR 90,000/-, subject to applicable taxes. The fee will be finalised depending on the scope of work co-determined with the consultant, and to be in-line with their skills and experience. Payments will only be made to bank accounts in India.
