About the organization:

Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA) is a policy research and advocacy organisation based in New Delhi. It analyses public policies and government finances in India, and advocates for greater transparency, accountability and public participation in budget processes. CBGA is developing a comprehensive and user-friendly Data Portal on Budgets in India, which could provide citizens free, easy and timely access to relevant data on budgets at various levels of governance in the country.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead development of interactive budget data visualizations for the portal.
• Conceptualize, visualize and design site layout and wireframes for responsive user experience.
• Help interpret the budget datasets to monitor and understand trends at various levels of governance in the country.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to visualize budget and data models.
• Help evolve user experience of the portal as we progress in our technical roadmap.
• Engage with open data community to ensure public monitoring of the portal and engagement of common citizens.

Desired Skills:

• Proficiency in Javascript, D3.js and Leaflet.js
• Knowledge of Python or other scripting language
• Knowledge of frontend development and good understanding of HTML & CSS
• Good analytical and communications skills, good sense of humor is a big plus
