Job Description: Operations Manager (North India)

BuffaloGrid is a UK-based technology start-up. We provide mobile power and internet connectivity to rural towns and villages across India. We are looking for an Operations Manager to manage our agents, our partners and our hardware supply chain across all North Indian states, and provide support to the BuffaloGrid international Operations Team.

Role Summary

The Operations Manager (North India) will manage the growth and support of all BuffaloGrid activities in your region. As the most senior employee in your region, you will be responsible for managing a range of different business areas (including sales, support, logistics and account management), working across timezones to demanding deadlines and managing the day-to-day operations of the business.

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer (based in London)

Start Date: 1st October or earlier


Responsibilities

  • Manage and support all BuffaloGrid Agents and Field Supervisors across North India, ensuring agent sales targets are met, monthly rewards are distributed and your region exists in a permanent state of growth.
  • Lead the identification of new BuffaloGrid locations and agents, through both new and existing partner networks.
  • Deliver a market-leading customer experience that is affordable, accessible and reliable.
  • Provide financial and logistical support for our operations across your region to ensure hardware is imported without delays, stock is carefully controlled and damaged equipment is quickly replaced.
  • Work closely with our partners and suppliers to keep our costs low, our service running and the relationship strong.
  • Support the London team with the development and maintenance of telecommunications or banking client relationships.
  • Provide broad, general support for all BuffaloGrid operations across your region.


Essential: Skills / Experience

  • University-level education in business administration, social science, humanities or computer science.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English to an international, professional standard.
  • Independent, self-starter that can deliver excellent work without the support of others and is comfortable working remotely for sustained periods of time.
  • Proven clear, confident and diplomatic communication skills, across all levels of a business.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and comfortable working outside your comfort zone
  • An ability to identify, design and implement new process and systems.
  • Demonstrable client account management skills.
  • Prior exposure to sales-led business practises or experience in a sales-led organisation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in rural communities across North India.
  • Strong competency with a range of web-based software applications, including Google Apps.
  • Holder of an Indian motorcycle license.


Preferred: Skills / Experience

  • A working understanding of electronics.
  • Prior experience in a technology startup or a major telecommunications company.
  • Prior experience supporting senior management
  • Holder of an Indian driving license.
