Hiring Lab Engineers !!!

AppOrbit is a start-up in Silicon Valley founded by industry rockstars and backed by top VC firms in the world.  Over the last year our elite team of technology leaders from VMware, Amazon, Veritas/Symantec and IBM have been pushing the envelope of container technology while delivering simplified experience to customers.  It's time to ramp up our current presence in India.  We are looking for technologists that share our passion for breakthrough technologies and vision to make a difference in the world.  

 Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Automate, streamline all deployment activities
• Monitor all production instances for incidents and trends
• Implement best practices to ensure an always-up, always-available service
• Ensure the SaaS environment follows all the best practices of security and is secured well.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure to reduce TCO
• Work closely with Engineering to understand changes in each release and keep all tools up-to-date to ensure automated deployments
• Co-ordinate with external data centres in the event of provisioning, outages or maintenance
• Own up all infrastructure related troubleshooting during unplanned outages
• Escalate and communicate issues timely and thrive to seek quick resolution
• Be aware of current CVEs, potential attack vectors, and vulnerabilities, and apply patches as soon as possible
• Work closely with development teams to ensure that platforms are designed with scale, operability, and performance in mind

 1.2 Qualifications:

•  Minimum 4-6 years of experience in the DevOps field
• A systems thinking mindset
• Understanding of Cloud Services - Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, Azure
• Good understanding of Unix/Linux Systems
• Good understanding of basic DNS and Networking, TCP/UDP, IP Routing
• The zeal to learn and upkeep themselves in the trade
• Understanding and belief that "DevOps" is not just
• Deployment/monitoring/maintenance/ cloud
• Motivation to solve interesting problems and design/implement
• Solutions at scale
• Very comfortable with Linux CLI
• Ability to find one's way around in shell/*nix deployments (dev and prod, both)
• Great communication skills
• Proficient with basic Linux administration (backups, maintenance, installation/upgrades)

 1.3 Skills that would catch our attention:

• Experience building/managing infra and systems/tooling on cloud
• Understanding of CI/CD, monitoring/alerting systems - some idea
• About related tools and practices
• Working knowledge of git/bzr/hg (any DVCS)
• Any experience in AWS/OpenStack/Cloud
• Conceptual understanding and some experience with various enterprise integration patterns
• Experience and understanding of any RDBMS, NoSQL data stores

  1.4 Nice to have

• Decent programming skills in any of Python/Go/Ruby/Perl
• Experience in working with *Containers*, *Docker*, *Kubernetes*,
• Mesos, Consul
